A local release candidate

There is no verified browser-store listing at this time. Version 0.2.0 exists as a tested local release archive. This website does not provide an authorized public download yet. If you already have the project’s release ZIP, follow the steps below.

You need a desktop browser and permission to manage its extensions. A managed work device may restrict Developer mode. On a phone, you can still use the website demo and copy the sample templates.

Load the unpacked extension

Use the versioned PhraseShelf-0.2.0-Chrome-Edge.zip supplied with the project. Extract it into a folder you intend to keep. The selected folder must contain manifest.json directly.

1. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome, or edge://extensions in Edge.
2. Enable Developer mode and choose Load unpacked.
3. Select the extracted folder containing manifest.json.
4. Open PhraseShelf from the browser toolbar. In its practice field, type ;hello followed by Space.
5. Create a real snippet and test it. Grant current-site or all-sites access only when you want to use it on websites.

Keep the folder and back up before updates

Do not delete or move the extracted folder while it is your installed copy. Unpacked updates are manual: first export a backup, obtain the next verified archive, and follow that release’s update instructions. Do not remove the extension before securing your library.

Chrome and Edge were tested on Windows. After restarting the browser, check that the extension is enabled and a saved reply still works. Persistent manual installation has not been independently verified. Check the compatibility page for the exact test scope.

Verify the archive you have

Expected version: 0.2.0. Archive size: 948,753 bytes. Compare the SHA-256 below with the project’s checksum file before using a copy. A matching hash verifies file identity, not a browser-store endorsement.
