If a snippet works in practice but not on a website, check permission, pause, scope, and the editor in that order.
Where PhraseShelf works
Desktop Chrome and Edge are the supported browser family. Editor tests have limits; named online services remain unverified.
Browsers tested for 0.2.0
On Windows 11, the release evidence covers Chrome for Testing 153.0.8010.12, Chrome 153.0.8010.48, and Edge 153.0.4234.48. The package declares Chrome 120 as its minimum, but that is not evidence of a test on every version.
There is no supported Firefox, Safari, mobile, native desktop-app, or incognito installation. The website itself can be read on mobile. French text can be saved; the extension interface is English or Arabic.
Editors exercised locally
Production-extension tests cover ordinary inputs and textareas, React-controlled fields, standard contenteditable, permitted frames, and open Shadow DOM. Local ProseMirror, Lexical, Quill, and Slate fixtures were also exercised; Slate insertion is plain text.
Framework undo behavior varies. PhraseShelf offers a guarded immediate revert only while the inserted area can still be identified. Do not assume it can reverse arbitrary later changes.
A fixture is not a service integration
Gmail, Outlook Web, LinkedIn, WhatsApp Web, Zendesk, and other live-service composers have not been verified with authorized accounts. Their names are not compatibility badges. A site can change its editor independently of your browser.
Try a harmless draft, check that the text survives the site’s next update, and do not send it during testing. If insertion is unavailable, prepare and copy the text, then paste it yourself.
Protected surfaces and input methods
Browser-protected pages, closed host Shadow DOM, inaccessible frames, and canvas-based editors do not provide a verified insertion path. Password, payment, one-time-code, read-only and disabled inputs are intentionally excluded where recognized.
Simulated composition tests passed, but actual operating-system IME and every keyboard layout remain unverified. Pause or exclude any site where expansion is unsuitable.
